Meet Sea to Sky Baby’s Doulas

Kristen Hrynkow

Birth and Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Co-Owner of Sea to Sky Baby.

Kristen is a mother of three littles and a passionate advocate for birthing families in their journey through birth. Kristen’s intention as a doula is to have you feeling confident, centred, and held throughout your sacred journey. Kristen understands the importance of community during the postpartum period and how instrumental it is to have support to tend to the emotional, physical, and energetic shifts that occur postpartum. Kristen would love to meet over coffee or tea to see if she is the right fit for your family!

Kristen did her birth and postpartum doula training with Wise Woman Way of Birth.

  • Kristen was an integral member of the incredibly strong circle of women that helped me birth my first baby. Prenatally, Kristen led with a huge amount of experience from her own 3 births that were all very unique. She helped me plan for my dream birth by arming me with knowledge of all birthing journeys, and helped me understand the autonomy I can have at each stage. During labour, Kristen was always part of the giggles that helped keep me feeling so positive throughout the whole experience, but she was also ready to just hold the space when things got intense. And oh the snacks! Oh the cold towels! She was a workhorse from start to finish - and that was 40+ hrs! Postnatally, Kristen very gently gave me confidence to trust my intuition when it came to cosleeping, and has been so helpful in building my overall confidence navigating this new world of parenthood. Thank you Kristen I will be forever grateful!

“Kristen was amazing, we would have not done it without her, really great support together with my husband they were the best team I could have ask for.”

Chelsea Gibbons Sea to Sky Baby Doula

Chelsea Gibbons

Birth and Postpartum Doula & Placenta Encapsulator

Chelsea fell in love with birth 15 years ago and is now serving births in the Sea to Sky Corridor and beyond.

Through becoming a mother herself,  various trainings, a mentorship and many years of self led learning she has come to appreciate and revere the tremendous value of supporting mothers and families through this powerful and life changing portal.

Chelsea believes that an empowered mama and a birth that aligns with her highest vision, sets the stage for the parenting journey ahead.

  • Her deepest desire as a doula is to be an anchor and a guide. Through her education and experience she will support you in navigating through this journey with intention and nourishing care. Her wish is that through this experience you will come out feeling seen, heard and empowered by your choices and beautiful birth.

The path into motherhood is one of the biggest rights of passage a woman will transition through. With practices, education, deep listening and consistent support, Chelsea will assist you in moving through that passage and creating a birth plan and path that is right for you and your family.

During postpartum, she will be there to support you and fill in the gaps as you step into the new roll of motherhood.

Chelsea believes that there is no one way to birth. Only the right way for you, your family, and your baby.

Chelsea specializes in supporting home births, loss, and placenta encapsulation.

  • I am so happy that Chelsea was by my side for my pregnancy and the birth of my daughter. We initially met through one of the birth circles hosted in Squamish, and then she came on as an assistant with my Doula. Having her come on was one of the best decisions we made during my pregnancy, because what’s better then one amazing doula? 2 amazing doulas!
    -Christie

Chelsea was able to provide me with much needed insight and knowledge, empathy when I needed it, and a safe place to share my insecurities and be heard. She was my rock when I went into labour and guided me through the rollercoaster that I was in. I was in labour for a total of 38 hours so it was nice to have someone look out for me for that time. She was also someone who was able to laugh with me, as I can get a bit goofy when I’m in pain. She made me feel safe and my husband felt the same with her as well. Her caring nature and passion for birth are two beautiful qualities, and it was an honour to have her with us as we started our new journey as a family. I couldn’t be happier with our decision to have her on our team, and our dogs really adore her as well so you can’t ask for much more than that!

We are so grateful we had Chelsea during the birth of our third daughter Mykaëlla. She was such an important support to me, my husband and our 2 older daughters, because of her reassuring presence our kids were calm and cooperative during the birth. She was also very good at protecting my birthing mama personal space.

In my opinion Chelsea’s biggest strength/super power is her emotional awareness and sensitivity. I feel like she naturally knows what to do and when to do it. She is really exceptional at what she does and she is really putting all her hearth into it. Her energy during our birth was very calm and peaceful. She will do everything she can to support a mother/couple in the best way she can. I would add that she is very simple and flexible and that she doesn’t take anything personal.

She is a hard working person and also was very helpful during postpartum visits, she sees what needs to be done and I loved her rythme during her postpartum visits, she is a productive one, probably because she is a mama as well.

My husband also really appreciated Chelsea’s presence, he said to me: ‘’thank god she was there during the birth’’. He felt very well supported by Chelsea on all levels. He also felt like his space was respected during the birth. He also loved that Chelsea helped to clean up the kitchen when she had time here and there.

We recommend Chelsea to anyone who want a deep and calm support during the birth, it is such an important moment in a couple/family life. Inviting Chelsea to our third birth was one of the best decision we took in our life.

Clara Johnson

Birth Doula, Doula Mentor, Childbirth Educator, and Co-Owner of Sea to Sky Baby

Clara is a mother of 4 beautifully-wild children. She has been attending births since the age of 18 and believes that birth has the potential to bring women home to the source of their power, intuition, and sense of Self.  Clara is passionate about supporting women in claiming self-responsibility around their birth, becoming well informed, and making decisions that align with their values, beliefs, and birth vision. Clara’s hope is for women to be birthed into motherhood feeling more powerful than ever before and for babies to enter this world in peace and love.

  • Clara started shadowing midwives as they cared prenatally for pregnant women when she was 14 years old. In undergrad, she studied Medical Anthropology and was exposed to the politics, history, and global differences in birthing culture. She attended her first birth when she was 18 years old under the mentorship of a midwife in Guatemala. This birth laid the realization that birth is simple, natural, and instinctual and that it usually requires very little other than love, respect, and authentic care for the unfolding of the journey.

Clara has a Masters in Public Health. She completed her capstone project on Kangaroo Mother Care in an under resourced public hospital in the Dominican Republic. During breaks from her research, she would sneak off and support women in L&D as a doula. Supporting women in birth was by far where her heart was!

Clara has completed numerous doula and childbirth educator trainings and workshops and is presently in a year long study of Quantum Midwifery.

Clara has experience supporting birth in home and in hospital, cesarean sections, VBACs, natural vaginal births, as well as undisturbed births.

At the root of her practice is the belief that women have the capacity to know what is best for their experience. She is an advocate of informed choice and supports her clients in harnessing the capacity to ask the important questions.

Her four young children are her life’s purpose, her greatest gifts, and her most influential teachers. She holds immense respect for each birth that she journeyed and the teachings she received. She had her first son at home with a certified midwife and her life changed forever. She identified a power within herself that she could not have imagined. She welcomed her second son via cesarean birth, which introduced life's shadow sides and birthed her into a mother lion full of unapologetic conviction for how she wished to journey this life.  She freebirthed her third baby, a daughter, and that brought her home to herself affirming what she held as truth. She free birthed her fourth baby, another son, and that ushered in a sense of wholeness and completion.

Get to know Clara at her monthly Birth Community Circle in Squamish! She is happy to welcome you there. Visit Clara’s personal website SovereignBirth.ca

  • "I came to Clara early in my first pregnancy knowing deep down a hospital birth wasn't for me, but not really knowing much else about birth or my choices. Clara held a totally judgement free zone as me and my partner explored all things birth and post-partum. She holds this judgement free space while being a fierce protector and proponent of physiological birth - this is obviously a really challenging balance, and Clara has absolutely mastered it. We asked what felt like a million questions over our incredibly valuable pre-natal sessions, and she was amazing at guiding our thinking rather than giving us absolute answers.

Clara was instrumental in building my courage to OWN my vision of birth, a game changing perspective for me - we often hear that 'going with the flow' is the safest bet, but I learned how powerful my mindset is in chasing what I want most in this world - she helped me be master of my own destiny. She was also the final source of strength I needed in those challenging hours when I didn't think I could do it, pulling out all the stops to ensure I had my dream home birth - breath work, positions, rabozo scarf techniques, she helped me dig deep when I needed it most.

Post-birth she's just an awesome momma and is the heart center of the community she has built in Squamish - there are so many that look to her and look up to her as we all navigate motherhood in this complex world, we don't know where we'd be without her!
I took the full suite of post-partum options - placenta encapsulation, tincture and prints - one of which is now pride of place in my bathroom. I can't wait to tell my baby girl all about it, I beam with pride every time I walk past it :) I am so thankful to Clara, she's changed my life and I couldn't recommend her highly enough!"

    - Becky

"When I found out that I was pregnant my world changed instantaneously. The essence ofmother began to flow through me and become the essence of me. Thoughts I had not thought and things I had never considered became the forefront of my priorities. Within me, I knew I had to find someone aligned with our hearts desires and world views to help bring our baby earth-side. So, as it goes, by ‘chance’ happenstance’ I met another pregnant mama who referred me to Clara. Straight away, there was an inner knowing that this doula would assist us in our daughters first birth story. What then proceeded were months of beauty, challenge, and growth in my relationship and the process in a whole. Clara was a witness and force of strength and solidity within these upheavals. For everything that we needed prior, during, and post birth, she was there. For us, this connection was in fateful alignment and we are so grateful. Thank you Clara from the bottom of our hearts."

    - Shelby

“I have first met Clara at one of the births I have photographed and I was surprised and amazed how gentle yet powerful her support was. I believe it must have been a predestination to meet her that way as I ended up hiring her to support me during my own pregnancy and birth eventually. I wanted to experience a home birth but I had a lot of doubts and fears about. Clara helped me to go through all of that without any pressure and she has taught me so much about physiological birth and how to trust my own inner self. She was there for me 24/7 during the pregnancy and postpartum, listening and answering all my questions. I cannot imagine not having her at my birth. She was there to hold my hands, press my back during contractions, fill the pool with warm water, take care of our 15 month old very soon to be big brother. But most importantly she was there as a mental support, she reminded me that I can do everything, her presence brought so much peace into our space and I will forever be grateful she was by my side! I wish to every birthing person to have a person like Clara by their side! Thank you from all my heart! ❤️”

    - Gabi

"Me and my husband were so grateful for having Clara as a precious guide throughout our last pregnancy and birth. I think her biggest strength is asking the right questions and letting the mamas find their own answers. We are so used to be told what to do that sometimes it is what we expect but not being told what to do is the biggest gift Clara could offer me. She supported me no matter what i decided in the process and it allowed me to go really deeply every time I had to make a decision. The process of choosing to free birth came naturally for me just by answering simple questions with honesty and simplicity. This was the most empowering experience I had and I felt really well supported and safe with Clara. I recommend her to any women who want to be 100% in charge of their process AND 100% supported in their pregnancy and birth experience. Thank you Clara for being exactly who you are and helping so many mamas on their unique journey."

    - Catherine

"I'm going to address this to you personally. Clara, you are an all-around gem. If we had a million children, we would go with you each time. Although you were my wife's doula, I felt you were equally my own doula because you understood very well that I had to be guided through the process as well, I needed support, and I needed to know how to support. At first I was unsure what you would offer that the midwife couldn't offer, but then I realized that your role of personal support and encouragement was every bit as important as having someone oversee the medical side. When choosing a doula, it's important to have someone very competent and intelligent who can answer questions and provide information about the many variations pregnancy and childbirth can take. You did this many times over, showing a broad range of experience and expertise. But at least as important in a doula is the ability to offer reassurance and a positive perspective during a potentially stressful time, genuinely being there for you to help us emotionally. I couldn't have possibly known beforehand how indispensable your supporting role would be. You were incredibly well suited to this role because of your amazingly genuine, giving, positive, calm, enthusiastic personality. You are a ray of sunshine in the turbulent time of pregnancy and childbirth. Along with your regular doula expertise, you brought us a wide range of other skills. Especially useful is your ability to teach helpful prenatal and postnatal yoga poses. You are an incredible yoga teacher as well as a doula. Clara, you are someone anyone going through pregnancy and childbirth would want in their life at a time like this. Thanks Clara! We'll never forget all you've done for us and the lessons you've taught us."

    - Joseph

"For the birth of my second child, I wanted an intimate container for the experience and to be held in it by a strong yet soft feminine presence, which I found and more in Clara. One of Clara's greatest gifts is her capacity to lead women back to their own intuition; her knowledge and reassurance enabled me to feel educated and empowered in my choices during pregnancy and labour. With her kind guidance during our prenatal visits, I explored and released the fears I had for the experience, which I credit for the surrender to my body and my baby's innate wisdom during the birth itself. While I was in labour, Clara magically knew just when I needed counterpressure during surges or sips of water between. Her support allowed me the freedom to just be in the experience without worrying about any of the logistics, like setting up the birth pool.

I recognized after the birth of my first child how focused I was on the baby and how depleted I became so my daughter's birth was an opportunity to reclaim my relationship with nourishment, and having Clara available for postpartum support was vital to this. She offered regular check-ins where I felt safe to ask any questions I had or voice any feelings that were surfacing, educated me in healing modalities like yoni steaming and belly binding, and gave me the confidence in transitioning to this new identity as a mother of two.

The birth of my daughter would not have been the same without her, and I am deeply grateful for her to share in that story. "

    - Lauren  D.

"The first time I met Clara (3 years ago), I knew she was going to be my doula someday. Over the years my birth envision has drastically changed from wanting to had an unmedicated hospital birth, to having a home birth, to free birthing. I didn’t even know what a free birth was before I met Clara. I had so many questions! In my gut I knew that it was safe, but there was so much programming and fears I needed to work through. Fast forward to the last 10 months when I became pregnant for the first time. I contacted Clara right away to make sure she could take me as a client!

The way she views birth and human physiology makes complete sense. When ever my partner or I would have a questions or concern she would have a really knowledgeable response that left us feeling even more trusting of ourselves and our abilities to birth our baby.

We had four in depth prenatal sessions. Clara shares a lot of information, asks very insightful questions and is an amazing listener.

During the birth Clara was amazing. Knowing exactly when to help support me (or my husband) and when to lean back and just be very grounding, loving and supportive.

She has also been incredibly helpful during the postpartum period. Helping us to navigate newborn life, breastfeeding, healing a tear without sutures, vaginal steaming and so much more.

I had my dream birth and I owe so much of it to Clara.

I almost forgot to mention how amazing her monthly community birth circles are!!"

    - Alyssa

"Clara’s involvement in my journey as a mother began as I processed the birth of my first child. I attended her monthly Birth Community Circles and I felt a strong call to have her support throughout my pregnancy and at the birth of my second child.

Clara holds the utmost respect for undisturbed physiological birth. Her wisdom, from years of experience and devotion to her craft, helped me to find crystal clarity on my vision for the birth. She took her time to deeply understand my vision and beautifully mirrored my intuition and intentions back to me if ever I questioned myself or the journey. Throughout my pregnancy, she offered prenatal education and questions for my partner and I to reflect on, delivered in the most loving and intentional way.

Clara carried this wisdom and reverence into the birthing space, demonstrating incredible care and intention in every action and sentiment expressed. Her energy at my birth was nothing short of serene.

In addition to capturing images and videos along the way that I will cherish forever, she honoured my wishes for a lotus birth, facilitated a beautiful mother blessing ceremony, and created a gentle herbal yoni steam blend to support me in my postpartum healing.

I am forever grateful to Clara for such a nourishing and fulfilling experience. I highly recommend any of her services and hope to one day be a repeat customer!"

    - Kelsey

"After a very traumatic first birth I thought I was never having anymore kids until I met Clara. She helped me find power and strength I didn’t even know I had. Hiring her as my doula for my second pregnancy was the best decision I made. She helped me achieve my dream birth. She asked meaningful, thought provoking questions that helped me prepare for the birth I wanted. She provided unbiased, factual information so I could make informed decisions. She made me feel empowered and heard. I think the standard of care Clara provides is what every pregnant women deserves to have. Her services were worth every penny and I’m so grateful to have found Clara when I did."

    - Lauren A.

"Clara was an amazing partner for our pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. Initially, we didn’t plan on hiring a doula nor did we have the intention for a natural home birth. We’re so grateful a friend recommended Clara.

Clara’s extensive wisdom and knowledge were evident during the one on one prenatal education. It wasn’t just about the technicalities of childbirth but an exploration of our preferences and fears, which left us more prepared and empowered.

During labor and birth, I can’t put into words how helpful it was to have Clara by my side. She went above and beyond to support me during a long labor and delivery.

The journey didn't end at childbirth; her postpartum support was invaluable. The education continued on an intimate level, she cared for our newborn so I could get some sleep, and helped us reflect on our birth story.

    I wholeheartedly recommend Clara!"

    - Megan

"Clara was a terrific guide on our family's first birth journey. So calm and supportive, kind and gentle. A wonderful soul."

    - Ryan

"When we crossed paths with Clara it was as if our prayers had been answered. From the first time we met with her we knew we had found our person. She was equally able to guide us and offer us the support we didn’t even know we wanted while honouring the vision we held for our birthing journey.

She held us through very challenging decisions and supported us in becoming informed for our best way forward. We were able to preserve and stay true to how we desired to feel throughout the journey.

I wish for every birthing person to have an ally and guide like we had in Clara.

We are eternally grateful for her wisdom, guidance and overall essence. She’s a wealth of knowledge and a heart of gold. And she’s an amazing cook too!"

    - Carmen

    -A

We cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible support we received from Ally during the first few months of our parenthood journey. As new parents, we were overwhelmed with the responsibilities and challenges that come with welcoming a newborn. Ally was a beacon of calm

and expertise, guiding us through each step, from giving our daughter her first bath to helping us learn to swaddle and calm her down in her witching hours (we called Ally our baby whisperer). Her wealth of knowledge on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery was invaluable. She seamlessly blended into our family dynamic(even our dog liked her and he’s particular), offering practical assistance while respecting our space and parenting choices. But it wasn’t just her professional skills that made a difference. Ally's sense of humour, warm and compassionate presence gave me the confidence and peace of mind that no one else was able to give during this vulnerable and sensitive period of time after birth. Whether it was soothing our baby during endless fussing, bringing me a coffee, allowing me to have a precious uninterrupted nap, providing gentle guidance on establishing routines, or simply offering a listening ear, she was there for me in ways that were invaluable. Without Ally's support, navigating those early days would have been significantly more stressful and overwhelming. Her genuine care not only helped us survive, but thrive as new parents. We wholeheartedly recommend Ally to any family seeking an extraordinary postpartum doula. She is a true gem.

Thank you Ally for being like a sister to me! I’m so glad we found you. Writing this brings back all the feels and emotions of being a new parent again 🥹 We couldn’t have done it without you!

    Big hugs!

    Rangyn, Andrew and Ava

There are not enough words to describe how valuable Ally’s work has been with our family! As a new mom of twins, I was desperate for support and reprieve! Both Ally’s personal and professional experience give her a well-rounded breadth of knowledge and strategy, and that gave me the confidence to lean into her support of me and my babies. During her first shift with us, I was able to nap sounder than I had in weeks! Since then, she has become an integral part of our support network; helping us navigate the always evolving stages and routines of new parenthood. It’s smiles all around when Auntie Ally arrives, even the dog! Thank you, Ally, for your dedication and care to your work with families in the community!

With love from me, Mike, Théo, Winnie & Billie

Amanda Clark

Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Hypnobirthing Instructor.

Amanda’s journey as a doula began on the peaceful island of Koh Samui, Thailand, where she collaborated with a Russian doula who had founded the maternity center, Mom to Be. Together, they provided invaluable support to families from around the globe, helping them navigate the unique challenges of giving birth far from home. Their partnership brought powerful opportunities, including collaboration with Wattanapat Hospital to promote a more mother-led approach to birth. Amanda also embraced Thai healing traditions, incorporating womb-lifting massage into postpartum care, enriching her practice with a holistic and nurturing touch.

  • She believes that every woman possesses an innate wisdom that guides her to birth in a way that feels right. Amanda’s role as a doula is to help you access this intuition, encouraging you to be unapologetically yourself throughout the birthing process. She emphasizes that this is your birth, your right, and your moment to ask for what you need. Amanda is committed to creating a peaceful, empowering environment so you feel heard, honored, and confident.

Now based in Whistler, BC, Amanda loves exploring nature with her husband and two children. When not on the slopes, she leads birth circles, teaches prenatal classes, and speaks at community events. Passionate about supporting new mothers, Amanda also provides compassionate postpartum care to make the early days of motherhood as smooth and nurturing as possible.

  • "My dear Amanda, it was so nice to see you again after sharing those special moments with you during my birth. Thank you for all your care and support during all the time, you have been my rock and angel, and that made me feel so secure that I can do this and that I have all the power within me. I would truly not know what I would have done without you. I will cherish those memories for a lifetime and will tell Nalea about you once she grows up. Of course, I hope we will meet again and until then I send you a big hug."

-Josephine (from Germany. Birth at Wattanapat Hospital, Koh Samui, Thailand)

“Women, mums & mothers to be, if you get the privileged to work with Amanda, your life & baby had been blessed .

Amanda is an attentive & nourishing space to land and be held and supported through your pregnancy & postpartum.

My husband and I attended her informative birth course where she provided us with a wealth of knowledge from her extensive research & integrated with her personal experience. We were both prepared and well informed for a beautiful home birth and this incredible experience wouldn’t of been the same without Amanda’s blessing”

    - Jana (Koh Samui, Thailand)

"Unknowingly, before she became a Doula, Amanda helped guide the births of my 2 children. Amanda was the first of my close friends to have a baby. I will never forget Amanda describing the labour of her firstborn. I had heard birth stories before and had seen movies that had scared me. Amanda shared every detail of her labour and delivery, but instead of presenting anything scary, she shared a calmness and a story of the beauty of childbirth. There was no sugar coating, she shared raw and real details but she shared them through a lens of wisdom that really stuck with me. She shared her breathing techniques, her movement and position changes, how she found comfort in the lighting and the sounds around her, and how she carefully chose mantras that she needed to hear through her contractions. Wise beyond her years, I felt as if Amanda had been to 100 births before she went through her first. Two years later, when I was about to have my first child, Amanda's words and wisdom stuck with me. There was no fear, there was excitement. I felt powerful and in choice about my surroundings. Amanda was not a Doula at the time, but I trusted that a Doula was someone that I wanted with me during my labour and delivery. My Doula echoed so many of Amanda's techniques and mantras and I cannot praise the work of a Doula enough. The support they offer is so unique. They are there to be your voice and your guide so your mind can be in it, in the moment of bringing your baby earthside. The power you gain from having someone like Amanda by your side is unexplainable. I am so proud of the work she is doing. Amanda has found her calling."

    Shaina (Vancouver, BC)

"I watched Amanda speak on an interview and it was very educational! One of my take aways was that there is less fear when you actually listen to yourself and your spirit. She says birthing like it's a special thing to be doing. Even for those who are not keen on childbirth, she makes it sound like a beautiful opportunity and honour rather than something to fear. I feel more women could benefit from this and her approach."

Stephanie's passion for supporting birthing individuals and the transition to parenthood began in her early twenties when she had the privilege of witnessing her best friend's birthing experience and journey into motherhood. Since then, she has completed numerous trainings, supported many friends, and experienced the joy of giving birth twice to her own greatest loves.
